A doctorless hospital in Bangladesh

Dr. Edric Baker, who is from New Zealand, has been serving the poor of Bangladesh since 1983. He started the Kailakuri Health Care Project, which has grown immensely over the years. They started with just a few patients and staff. They now see over 100 ouptatients a day, have 30-40 inpatients on a daily basis, visit 17 villages for maternal and child health, and manage 5 diabetes outreach clinics in other towns. All of this work is done by local people, most of whom do not have more than a high school education. There are no doctors or nurses at the project, outside of Dr. Baker. They manage everything from diabetes and earaches to fractures and severe burns. Here is a short video clip from New Zealand about Dr. Baker at Kailakuri.
